When I was a kid, I wanted to be a sports journalist. I read a profile of Greg Maddux that Tom Verducci wrote in Sports Illustrated when I was nine years old, and the “dream job” idea took hold. I had a stint in journalism—including some time at Sports Illustrated, in fact—but life happens, and careers change on average of 2348902342* times nowadays. So the majority of the writing I do now takes place in Microsoft Outlook, or emoji-ridden text messages and social media posts.
Every once in a while, I encounter something that tugs at my heart strings or elicits a stronger reaction in me. It’s like Marie Kondo’s concept of “sparking joy,” except it’s more like “sparking emotion.”
My reasons for starting this website are two-fold: 1) To tell the stories that that compel me, that say at me, “You need to put this out there for others to know!”; 2) An (admittedly self-serving) editorial outlet, both for nine-year-old Kimie and 34-year-old Kimie.
My ideas so far include a pretty random smorgasbord of topics. The common thread is that they all compelled me to write them down.
